General: need of email notification on new releases

It may not be a true bug, however, I file it here to raise your attention, that we need email notification on new releases, which will call attention from users rapidly.

no that's not a bug. you used the word "general" which is a good idea, as in "general tc talk"

email notification would either require some forum modification, a mailing list to be setup, or why not have a script that just checks the internet for new releases? i mean if your target is "tc users," why not just have tc check to see if there is a new version? it should be off unless you turn it on.

Using the forum's notifications to do that should work.
