nslookup: howto look up websites
« on: May 02, 2009, 08:11:00 PM »
why am i posting this?

nslookup fooled me for about 12 hours into thinking i knew how to use it. (the experiment was the same after i learned to use it properly.) the --help text is inspecific. the man pages are detailed (nslookup does many things) but didn't help with this very simple task.

the secret is not to use http:// (if you do it doesn't work.)

nslookup google.com

this works in 2.0 rc1, but not for me. i can use it in other distros on the same network and in 2.x on other networks. the sites it won't resolve still load in ff and links.
