hello,
I am trying to connect to a network here with TCL (the PC worked at home; it is today in a new place).

The "Network" menu show
- network mask show 255.255.255.0
- name server 10.1.0.1
But no connection with "minefield".. It show only a continuous "Connecting..." but dont connect.

The resolv.conf content is:
search schule.local
nameserver 10.1.0.1

So: has somebody any advice how to connect?

I think this is a question of proxy because in firefox under windows, the parameters which has to be given are 10.1.0.1 and port 8080 for making working a PC.

To use a web browser with a proxy you have to configure it accordingly in its settings.

How for "Minefield" or "firefox"?

ok, I found that in the internet and now it is solved

I saw
===========================
http://www.weizmann.ac.il/IU/proxies/netproxy.html

Firefox on a Unix or Linux Machine

        * Pull down on the Edit menu and choose Preferences.
        * Click on the Advanced tab, then on the Network tab, and then on Settings.
        * Click on Manual Proxy Configuration.
        * In the space for HTTP Proxy enter wwwproxy.weizmann.ac.il.
        * In the space for Port: enter 8080.
        * In the space for No proxy for:

                  o If you are working from a Weizmann machine, enter *.weizmann.ac.il.
                  o If you are not working from a Weizmann machine or if you are working in wireless mode, make sure that there is nothing written in the space for No proxy for:.
                  o If you are working from a Weizmann machine and you are trying to access wis-wander.weizmann.ac.il, make sure that there is nothing written in the space for No proxy for:. This is because wis-wander.weizmann.ac.il is not hosted at Weizmann and is effectively an outside site.

        * Click on OK.

Mozilla on a Linux Machine

        * Pull down on the Edit menu and choose Preferences.
        * Open the Advanced category and click on Proxies.

        * Click on OK.

Then I made

===============
Browser start (Mienefield in my case)
Go to "edit" "Preferences" "Advanced" "Network"
in "Connection"-"Settings", put for "manual proxi configuration"
HTTP Proxy 10.1.0.1    and  Port 8080.
(clean the field "No Proxy For").
===============

Then it is solved.
