openssh - update request
« on: May 08, 2012, 07:37:25 AM »
hi friends,

the openssh-version of the repository is outdated and perhaps vulnerable:

tinycore-openssh.tcz:

2010/03/25 Fixed bug in init script
      2010/04/04 Bumped to 5.4p1
            Rebuilt against openssl-0.9.8(n)
       2010/06/21 Bumped to 5.5p1
            Rebuilt against openssl-0.9.8(o)
Current:   2011/02/18 Bumped to 5.8p1
            Rebuilt against openssl-0.9.8(p)

Release History of openssh:

    OpenSSH 6.0: April 22, 2012
    OpenSSH 5.9: September 6, 2011
    OpenSSH 5.8: February 4, 2011

ssh is one of the most used and most important security and admin tool.
it should be so current, hardened and audited as possible.

thank you for your help.

Have you asked Kingdomcome? If you have, and it's been a week or two without reply, you can proceed with updating it.
The only barriers that can stop you are the ones you create yourself.

Hi netnomad,

I have been very busy IRL and will continue to be for some time.  OpenSSH is a fairly simple and strait forward build depending on openssl and gcc libs.  Feel free to use the build script that should be in the src dir of the repo and make any changes needed to keep in line with the current TC needs.

I have a spare hour or two tonight, I can give it a go if no one else is already on it.

Updated and uploaded.  The build script was complete and easy to follow and modify.
