Hi cast-fish
I'm sure there are several.  flburn.tcz  is a recent addition.

Rich

thanks a lot

my CD re-writable disk just broke.....it was only 1 day old and had been used only twice...

(but i never blanked the whole disk with a full blank when it was new......maybe it needed that?)

otherwise it was a win32 burning tool that broke the blank disc......i have used the tool many
times before but not on this exact win32 operating system.

Burning with the same disk using Linux OS worked fine.....(so)

have been into town and purchased  one new CDRW disc....... and 5 CDr "write once" discs.

Vince.

this Flburn extension works just fine.

Do you happen to know if it's a pre-requisite of CD-RW discs to do a "full erase" before a disc is ever used?

Some tools offer "quik erase" or "full erase"

I usually do the quick erase, haven't had any adverse effects.
The only barriers that can stop you are the ones you create yourself.

Same here, in most cases I get away with the "Quick Erase", so I use this as my default. But I've had some "hard cases" over the years where I had issues either during the burning or ended up with not properly readable CD-RW. In many of these cases doing a "Full Erase" helped to overcome the problem (of course followed by re-burning the image). As this might occur only once or twice a year I don't pay too much attention to it.

yes.

The packet writing software can conflict by having buffer- under-runs and with the data bus
layer of the OS. CD burning tools are supposed to sniff out what type of drive it
is and choose default speeds but it's not always clinical 100 percent accurate.

Also temperature can affect things..and simple dirt. It's never been perfect with optical
discs and perhaps mini-disc had something in the fact that the discs were sealed.

people get there fair share of issues with optical disc media...that's true.

There was once a very strance situation with me which was totally perplexing....discs would just fail
for no reason.....never worked out if it was the drive or the discs...but it was real annoying
