Firefox 10.0.0.2 is out
« on: February 28, 2012, 03:56:08 PM »
Hi again!

I repeatedly get the advise to update Firefox to 10.0.2 the one in the repository now is version 10.0.1 and subsequently need an update. This is just a reminder since I can see that it's a lot going on with this wonderful OS right now.

Have fun keeping TC up to date,

I have been using 10.0.2 under Ubuntu for better part of a week now, no great changes that I've noticed.  I have been thinking of leaving FireFox for something that doesn't use so many megabytes to store a lot of data that mostly I don't need.  I wouldn't get too worked up about it one way or another, but then I'm not getting continually pestered to upgrade. <g>

There should be a preferences setting where you can tell it not to check for updates. That will stop the
message from popping up.

Good point, Rich. Edit>Preferences>Advanced>Updates allows one to shut of the nagging update messages.

That turns off the FireFox-initiated nagging.

Don't know about TC, but Ubuntu automatically checks installed code against the repositories and notifies you if there are upgrades available.  You can turn that off entirely but then you don't hear about security updates, which might or might not be of interest.  I let it check once a week.

Anyway 10.0.2 seems no great shakes over 10.0.1 as far as I can tell.

Hi again!

No update? It might be a security hole.

Have fun with TC or C,

No need for the firefox update notifications, since tcz's or scm's are mounted read only, we can't use their update mechanism.  FWIW, uploading firefox.tcz 10.0.2 now.

That's interesting.  How are updates distributed then?

Hi Jason!

Thanks a lot for this update! I really appreciate it although I just discovered that Icecat also syncs with the bookmarks I have. I'm using Icecat right now making this post and it works just fine.

Have fun updating excellent extensions and thanks again,

So people find out somehow that a package has been updated, then reinstall it?

Is there any network-oriented notification, or how do people find out about updates, look here or nearby?
