2.0 alpha 4 on eee wireless
« on: April 26, 2009, 06:37:50 AM »
2.0 boots fine on my eee 701. I copied the 2 files from the iso to the boot folder on my eee's ssd and modified grub with a new entry.

Boots fast and wired internet works.

However, the wireless tools, while able to se wlan0 (as it should with this newer kernel) does not give the command iwconfig or iwlist which are pretty essential to connect to t'internet (unless I'm missing s
something)

Also - when you download a tce, where does it go?

The wireless_tools extension contains both /usr/local/sbin/iwlist and iwconfig - what does "which iwlist" show on your machine?

I've used wireless_tools to connect on tinycore_2.x without problems...

If you have set up a tce folder, it goes there; if not, it goes temporarily to /tmp/tce and is deleted after loading to save ram. If you click on download only, it goes to /tmp/tce/optional and is not deleted.

Juanito, seems the wireless_tools extension was not copied to the 2.x area because it's kernel-related (compiling against the new kernel gives more functionality). Could you rebuild it on tc2?

That seems to be it: I was just uses wireless 2.6.29.1 tce, wireless_tools is not present. Will the 1.4 version work on 2.0?

http://distro.ibiblio.org/pub/linux/distributions/tinycorelinux/2.x/tce/wireless_tools.tcel

..since ibiblio doesn't seem to have updated yet
Thanks - installed this and wireless 2.6.29 and then wireless worked with netcardconfig in the panel. I am posting this from my eee using TCL 2.0 and opera.

Minefield did not work - downloaded fine (tce) and added an icon to wbar, but clicking has no effect.
