Mplayer-nodeps

Hi,
Mplayer-nodeps.tcz don't support the audio out with driver ALSA.
I have checked with:

mplayer -ao help

And I have seen that there is not indicated "alsa" in the Available output driver list.
(only oss,mpegpes,v4l2,null,pcm)

The problem is that the soundcard that I use ( an USB sound card made by my company) is usable only with alsa.

If I use Mplayer-svn-gtk1.tgz, all is ok.

I have tried this in TC 3.8 and TC4.0 with same trouble.

Is my mistake or there is an error in mplayer compilation?

Unless I'm missing something, mplayer-nodeps means exactly that - no dependencies

If it worked with alsa, then it would have alsa as a dependency, no?

Yes..... effectively is right...
I was wrong because in the extension "info" there is written "for sound you'll of course need OSS or alsa".

I'm not english and perhaps I misunderstood.

It does not support alsa output, yes, but you can play sound from OSS apps on alsa drivers fine. If you don't use the alsa scripts, you may need to manually load the alsa oss modules, or use the aoss script. (I see aoss isn't available in 4.x currently; please ping JLS if you need that.)

is there any cure for the error of

"cache is not filling properly"

it pops up each time a web movie is streamed...using mplayer nodeps.

I tried the advice from mplayer but the arguments below make no difference ...

-cache and  -cache-min

also i wondered in 3.8 tcl if movie playing is under any cpu power scaling?....

i have already installed scaling into tcl 3.8 and it is working in an "ondemand" fashion.

Will this scaling be fine for movie playing?

Your cpu and/or network connection is too slow for the cache settings. Ondemand cpu scaling should work fine with movies.

If increasing the cache doesn't help, you can download the movie first and then watch.
