Sound: youtube ok, music players not ok
« on: October 27, 2011, 06:31:40 PM »
I installed OSS to get sound on an old Toshiba laptop I'm setting up. Works well enough for youtube, but Clementine says "GStreamer could not create the element: autoaudiosink. Please make sure that you have installed all necessary GStreamer plugins (e.g. OGG and MP3)". Audacious just says "ALSA error" and "No suitable mixer element found". Apparently they don't know where to output. I do have the OSS_alsa.tcz package, but it doesn't make any difference - whether it's in OnBoot or not.

I then unloaded oss from boot and loaded alsa, but that works even worse - I now don't get audio in Youtube either, just a "click" in the speakers when the video loads, and another "click" when I turn the computer off. In between, nothing. Also, alsaconf doesn't work - running it from terminal just returns me to the command line.
