Samba update to 3.6.x
« on: October 14, 2011, 04:34:43 AM »
Hi,

It would be nice to have Samba 3.6.x in the TC repository since 3.6 introduces SMB2.0 support (which was introduced with Vista) that enables faster transfers and more efficient signalling on a Gigabit network.

Thanks in advance,
AndrĂ¡s

From the samba-3.6.0 release notes:
Quote
As this is the first release containing what we consider to be a fully featured SMB2 protocol, we are not enabling this by default, but encourage users to enable SMB2 and test it. Once we have enough confirmation from Samba users and OEMs that SMB2 support is stable in wide user testing we will enable SMB2 by default in a future Samba release.

Juanito: They are testing it for years! now...there were pre releases and betas... okay the samba development team was always a slow one, but anyway: I don't think that this can cause any trouble, since you need to enable SMB2.0 manually in the smb.cfg.

Of course I understand if this update is not your highest priority.
