Any reason to forbid searching to guests?
« on: October 06, 2011, 08:00:18 AM »
Hi folks,

iI just registered here only to be able to search the forum.
Doesn't seem too convenient (an a little not-so-open).
Wouldn't it be better to just let guests do a captcha for searching and only allowing $x queries per hour?
this is how it's done in other places.
just thought I'd drop a line here.

best regards,

bUbU87

Even restricted somewhat, it was too cpu intensive in the past.
The only barriers that can stop you are the ones you create yourself.

It was enabled in the past like you say, open for guests but restricted. There are some threads about that issue on the forum.

I would also like to be able to search the forum without having to log in. Is it possible? Thanks.

One option is to use Google, and on your search include the text "site:tinycorelinux.net"  so that only results from here are returned.

For example, make your Google search something like this:

Code: [Select]
site:tinycorelinux.net How to build an extension
