linux-headers-3.0.3-tinycore

can we have linux-headers for tc 4.x too please ? i need it for ati-fglrx installer otherwise i need to write a script to download and prepare linux source which will require approximately 400MB hard disk space

We have it, but it's name was changed from linux-headers-`uname -r`.   I can't remember it off the top of my head, on Windows now, but it is there.

Return the package linux-headers-xxx.tcz, which can normally compile a third-party driver.
linux-3.0.1_api_headers.tcz horrible imperfection.  >:(

we're speaking of two different things here - you're looking for the kernel source headers, not the api headers

I think we should go ahead and make an extension for the source headers, and Hats can later overwrite it if he wants to.  Things are moving fast with 4.x repo and I don't see a reason to wait.  I have some spare hours today, and I will see about putting up an extension for it, and Hats or anyone who wants to be the one to maintain the extension long term is free to replace it.

On second thought, this would probably be better done by the kernel or toolchain folks if Hats is not available.  Been a while since I dealt with kernel and headers anyway.

So does this mean we can't compile a needed driver untill the kernel source headers are available?  If I needed them while compiling for 2.6 I guess I need them again for 3.x right?

You can always use the full kernel source, but I am sure a kernel-headers package will emerge soon.

/usr/src/linux should perhaps be tc:staff instead of root:root?

It's a symlink so permissions shouldn't matter... or is there an issue with it?  (everything is root.root iirc)
