With the TC4 slowly being worked on, i started wondering about one thing - If you are a TC3 user, and have lots of extensions installed, how should you update to new TC?

Can you just replace kernel+initrd, start the system, and then run updates? or do you have to remove all extensions and install them again from scratch ?

That is how I upgraded from V2 to V3 when 3.0 went out of alpha.  There were only minor cleanups needed afterwards.
I would suggest you backup your tce directory and save your mydata.tgz first.
You could also just use ls to make a list ot your tcz files, and write a shell script
to simply tce-load each extension into a new tce directory.

Or just to rename tce to something else and create a new tce directory.

AppsAudit has matured much over the many releases of Tiny Core.
I cannot disagree about making a backup.
But one should not ignore the provided GUIs  that can and should be used for such a task..
