Hello

i have asked this before so will need to check the records here.

what is the exact process of manually upgrading TCL from
say a CD booted version of 3.6 up to 3.8..?

Or is upgrading only warranted if you have a proper hard drive
frugal install of tcl?

Do you just swap over the two files that are mentioned in the
wiki regarding upgraded. (obviuosly you download the two fresh files from 3.8 first)

Is there no button or app in the menu that just upgrades TCL
automatically when clicked?

If you boot from cd, it's enough to replace the 3.6 cd with the latest one. In a frugal install you'd replace the main two files, as mentioned in the wiki.

There may be files in your backup that have changed, they are listed in the release announcements. There's no automatic update button for the base.

Wouldn't you just download the latest iso and burn a new cd?

uh...burning CD's is a bit of hasstle because there is just
one re-writable blank disc here. It has stuff on it that i want
to remain on it.

I can always install TCL using "unetbootin" and the multi-core
edition.

I just wondered with a CD disc boot of TCL was there any
way to then upgrade that running instance?

hello

uh yes Rich i have been reading that thread.

That thread is not so much about upgrading tcl but more about installing TCL without  installing
any bootloader  or doing any bootloader work.

To be honest, i understood Jasons comments on how to boot
up a frugally installed version of tcl that did not have any bootloader
by using grub super disk.

But it did not understand the simple process of doing a frugal
install of tcl to it's own partition without any bootloader involvement[/u]
.....but Rich, i believe your reply in that thread may have covered the blue
text here.
