If you wouldn't mind to check and see if alsaconf works on your machine with TC 4.x I would appreciate it, as there were some additional changes that were done to it because of the new kernel.

works for me  :)

hello,

i downloaded tcl 4.0 alpha and burned the CD.

i booted the cd
i did onbot installs of "alsa.tcz" and "alsaconf"
the machine had already had a USB soundcard plugged in before it was powered on and before tcl was booted.
the machine also has an internal PCI soundcard.  (slot)

Alsaconf only found the internal PCI soundcard.  It did not find the usb card.

i did not try to configure the internal PCI card but just probed non exitent pnp cards and  completed the alsaconf script........... and exited.

i then ran the "aplay -l" command and saw that  NO soundcards were present.
i then unplugged and re-plugged the USB soundcard. in.........
i then ran the "aplay -l" command again and alsa had correctly found and configured the USB soundcard  "working sound"

Hello

Yes.

i also tested tcl 4.0 alpha again from scratch.

I booted it up from CD without any USB soundcards plugged in. The computer
just had an internal PCI soundcard (slot card)

I got to the desktop of tcl and did onboot downloads of "alsa.tcz" and "alsaconf.tcz"

I then ran the alsaconf script in a terminal and it found the "internal PCI cardslot soundcard"
and i clicked configure and alsaconf correctly configured it.

I then ran the "aplay -l" command from a terminal and it revealed that indeed
tcl and my internal PCI souncard (slot) were working correctly.

I then plugged in a USB soundcard and ran the command "aplay -l" again.

Tcl and my machine now had both the PCI soundcard (slot) and the external
USB soundcard listed and working together.
