wget fails but extension appears loaded
« on: July 02, 2011, 06:44:56 PM »
Sometimes wget fails, yet the extension appears loaded. I'm using microcore 3.6. Here's an `ab` session showing the problem:

Downloading: qemu-extra.tcz
Connecting to distro.ibiblio.org (152.19.134.43:80)

qemu-extra is already downloaded!

After this,

$ tce-load -i qemu-extra
mount: mounting /dev/loop68 on /tmp/tcloop/qemu-extra failed: Invalid argument

$ tce-load -wi qemu-extra
qemu-extra is already downloaded!

That error is being addressed.
You really need to keep up-to-date to get fixes.
Current is 3.7.1.

Sorry, I looked at the 3.7 changelog and searched the forum before posting, but couldn't find it.

Because it isnot fixed yet.
You still need to be running current version.
Reporting "bugs" while running old versions in most fora will
simply get you an "update before posting" answer.

Hi Guys,

I don't think it is reasonable to expect every user to update their TC installation every time a new release of TC is released.

As we know, TC is under active developement and new releases come out regularily.

For many users an update is non-trivial task and changes can introduce new issues for users especially as packages are removed or substituted and scripts updated.

I agree that keeping up to date is best practice but suggest that an offhand reply to update to latest version is not that helpful to someone requesting help in the forum.

Regards b1ackmai1er.

I did not say every user should update every time there is a new release.
I said that someone who is reporting what they think is a bug should be running the latest release.

For TC that would be 1 file ( tinycore.gz. )
If the problem involves a paticular extension, they need to be sure that is also the current version.
