Just to be clear: the most recent Tinycore ISO image (which is the one which 'tinycore-current.iso' currently points to) does not contain a label named 'tci' (but rather 'tinycore' and 'tc').

AFAIK you'll need this Multicore ISO image as that should support the 'tci' boot label.

Suggestion to Robert: It might be an idea to offer a 'multicore-current.iso' as well.

Thank you for your prompt help Maro! I will press onward.

The multicore image is not one of the links at "Direct DL" on the downloads page.

That is what I was hinting at with my suggestion to Robert.

never mind. the version I downloaded from the website didnt have any kind of installer. I downloaded from another mirror and without having to type anything at the boot promt, I get the TC-install on my dash.

Same here.  No tci.  Also, if I boot mc base, it does not contain tc-install.

You must be downloading an older version of multicore.

multicore 4.0.1 does not contain the tci,tnc,tcg,tcr,tca...  choices. It is much easier to use as all included extensions are mounted for immediate use as well as any existing extensions. Read the opening screen.

Thanks Robert. The usb install docs (wiki) don't seem to say that. The opening screen does refer to remastering if I recall.

Having skipped a few incarnations of TC I'm now discovering what it's like to be a newbie again looking at the wiki.

Does the install.tcz extension work on tinycore-4.0.1 ie don't need multicore to do a usb install?

tc-install.tcz from the repository is indeed the same as on multicore_4.0.1

Note however, the all the included extensions provided via any iso are snapshots at the time of creating the iso, so therefore extensions from the repository could likely be more up to date!
