Yikes, of the hundreds of times I've invoked tce-load -w and not once did I need ondemand immediately after..

Wouldn't make sense to autolaunch it every time.

As I said above, I haven't ever needed to use ondemand right after tce-load -w so far. It would be a major annoyance to me, and I guess to others as well.

when from the appbrowser  I choose ondemand, means that I need that extension, but not onboot, so I always go to cpanel - ondemand

I have many things I wouldn't like in a menu; rarely used, command-line, others.

Jls, you may only use such for applications, many others use such for many types of extensiions.
Since there is no distinction for base applications from any other extension, it is not going to happen. BTW, I am removing OnDemand from the control panel, as it is not universal and only applies to flwm.

TC knows when a tcz is an application or not, if the is a menu/icon entry.
Sorry for repeating, my proposal doesn't slow too much the extension loading since the check (temporary tcz mount) should be done only to the app requested and not to de deps

Here is what I am going to do...

Make an option, an additional button, in appbrowser, that one can download and have it auto added into the ondemand menu. Still only flwm* support at this time. No change to the command line tools.

So appbrowser will have three action buttons enabled when an extension is selected..

Install - will download, update system menu and onboot.lst.
DwnLoad - download only.
OnDemand - will download and update the ondemand menu.

the ondemand button in appbroser could create a file (appname.desktop) in /usr/local/share/applications.
In this file there shouldn't simple be the name of the binary, but a call to appname.ondemand.
This appname.odemand could be similar to the file which creates the 2.10 ondemand script, with this 2 addon:
  • if the app is not in tce/optional it should be downloaded
  • the real app should be launched with a parameter (filename)

usr/local/share/applications should be added to filetool.lst

/usr/local/share/application-registry is also something that could be considered.

why only flwm?

You are not aware of the programming that is in process. I am glad that you have such an interest in this, but until I see compliance with non-X programs being fully supported with current DE extensions that claim freedesktop compilance, it will remain as I stated.  OnDemand is not going to include download scripts.

...... OnDemand is not going to include download scripts.
why not?
I explain u again why I think it's a good idea.
This is a nomadic distro, meaning that I can travel with mydata or even have it on an ftp site.
I can decide to travel without my tce collection cause it's too big.
In mydata there is ~/.wmx/Ondemand, but this won't work, it will work if u add tce-load -w
If I'm wrong plz explain me why
