dCore-zesty
« on: May 31, 2017, 03:19:20 PM »
dCore-zesty is now uploaded to the Release Candidate area.  It will replace dCore-yakkety as the non LTS Ubuntu based dCore and remain as a Release Candidate.  Ubuntu Yakkety is scheduled for an end of life in July and dCore-yakkety will be retired then as well.

The kernel is 4.8.17-tinycore that was built on dCore-stretch and shares the same kernel modules.

Hi
I've successfully upgraded to dCore-zesty :D
Thank you Jason.
Still using enlightenment from the niko2040 ppa.
Ondemand system-config-printer makes X crash.
Enlightenment for zesty was compiled with Wayland support
Is it possible to try it?

Please give the exact debextra repo entry and the package name for enlightenment that you are using so I can test.  I tried the nokia repo with enlightenment and sce-import provided the standard Ubuntu enlightenment package.  Thanks.

Hi,
Thanks for the info, I have now used that PPA to install enlightenment and the other needed packages.  I have reproduced an install with only the following: enlightenment, xorg-all, kernel-all-4.8.17-tinycore, terminology, and system-config-printer.  In the enlightment DE, I have found no crashes with system-config-printer loaded via ondemand or otherwise with either xterm or termilology.  I did find some needed deps to be added to prevent warnings upon starting system-config-printer in a somewhat minimal environment:  libnotify4, at-spi2-core, dbus-x11.  I tried to reproduce the crash, but did realize some further deps are needed for the package.  Thanks for reporting.

No.

What is the list of SCEs you have installed and loaded.  And if made from list file, their contents.  Thanks

Using the PPA you mentioned as well as the set of SCEs you specified, neither "sudo tce-setup" or "system-config-printer" commands cause any issue from either xterm or terminology.  Personal packages naturally can be a potential issue.  Do you use these same exact custom packages in other dCore ports you run and without error?

Has your SCE directory been updated lately?  I am sure you have, but just verifying.

Also, are there any other PPAs you are using in dCore-zesty?

Thanks

Thanks.

I have created /opt/debextra entries with all the repos you mentioned in:

http://forum.tinycorelinux.net/index.php/topic,21105.msg132015.html#msg132015

And re-imported all my SCEs (sce-update -an) with the above repos, and the below SCEs being created as shown in the below post and loaded on boot:

http://forum.tinycorelinux.net/index.php/topic,21105.msg132009.html#msg132009

And I did not have X crash on "sudo tce-setup" nor "system-config-printer".

Are you using the personal packages that you mentioned on other dCore ports and are they working there?   I am curious as to what is causing the issue.

Thanks for testing and reporting.
