Hi,
I understand your desire for a search bar - Or something else that makes it more convenient to find and load local extensions (http://forum.tinycorelinux.net/index.php/topic,6781.msg120369.html#msg120369).

I'm wondering, if multiple instances of  tce-load  are running at the same time, could it get confused about which extensions are already loaded, thus possibly attempting to load extensions more than once?
Loading more than one extension with a single command is possible via  tce-load . Would just be a logical consequence if Apps would provide the same feature.

Are you looking to search for extensions available locally that can be installed or to search for extensions that have already been installed?

Also, I'm not sure why you would open more than one instance of the apps gui?

I think when folks learn the tinycore way they will not get frustrated..

I believe Apps > Load App Locally  was designed to load one app at a time, when more that one is needed than they should look for other ways to accoplish the task.  There will usually be more then one way to accomplish a task in tinycore.

Instead of asking Apps to do more than it was designed for, In this case use:
Code: [Select]
tce-load -i app1 app2 app3 etc. etc.

Maybe I'm ignorant, but one could argue "Why was tce-load designed that way but not Apps?".
Also it's possible to update multiple extensions in one go by holding CTRL while selecting entries.
I definitely thought at one point "hmm.. why isn't this constantly available in every list of select-able entries?".

I don't have a definite opinion on that though. I mainly use Apps to look for an particular extension, read an info file, check for updates. For many extensions the loading is now done for me either by the OnDemand feature or by personal scripts (or manually via dmenu very quickly). However, I remember how it feels to use Tiny Core's GUI tools as a noob. I thought they were broken when I didn't know better.

Nothing to be scared of, I suggest you use the opportunity to take it for a test drive

but you have to manually copy every name of every tcz to load
As comparison, on ubuntu i could choose multiple packages to load in gui
