"Restored" epdfview problem [SOLVED]
« on: July 10, 2013, 12:44:02 AM »
epdfview wouldn't start from the icon when I downloaded the "restored" version.

Trying to start it from a terminal gave the message "epdfview: error while loading shared libraries: libavahi-common.so.3: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory".

Downloading the libavahi.tcz extension resolved the issue, so probably something missing in a dep file.

edit: Originally posted about this in TCE Talk "epdfview problem?" thread, but since the issue involves an older version of epdfview it seems more appropriate to post here.

The problem seems to be that libcups was missing a dep on libavahi - now added (epdfview depends on libcups)

Hey Juanito. Apps doesn't show an update to epdfview (mirror http://distro.ibiblio.org/tinycorelinux/). Maybe I need to try a different mirror? When I downloaded the app again it still had the same issue.

It's libcups.tcz.dep that you need to update

This looks OK:

http://www.tinycorelinux.net/4.x/x86/tcz/epdfview.tcz.tree

Thanks Juanito. epdfview works for me now.

Re mirrors, is tinycorelinux.net the "preferred" location or do changes propagate eventually to other mirrors? Not sure why I had the one I was using -- seems like there was a mirror problem a while ago and people were told to use distro.ibiblio.org.

All mirrors get the changes eventually, but the delay varies. Ibiblio is about one day behind.
The only barriers that can stop you are the ones you create yourself.
