[SOLVED] getFlash11 - no sound
« on: November 20, 2012, 04:33:10 PM »
I have installed getFlash11 and copied libflashsupport.so and libflashsupport_32.so to /usr/local/lib/mozilla/plugins/, flash video works but without sound. I get sound working on vlc with alsa.

Console:
$/usr/local/etc/init.d/alsasound status
Exit: Alsa is running.

$cat /opt/.filetool.lst
Exit:
etc/X11/xorg.conf
etc/shadow
opt/alsa
etc/modprobe.conf
usr/local/lib/mozilla/plugins/libflashsupport.so
usr/local/lib/mozilla/plugins/libflashsupport_32.so
usr/local/etc/asound.state

The info file states that the libflashsupport.so is compiled for OSS.  Did you install alsa-oss.tcz?

I've installed alsa-oss.tcz, but no success. Maybe a problem with Flash plugin version?

You could start your browser from aterm and see if any output might give some hint.

Particularly in case of opera you could use parameter "-debugplugin"

Is it and old hardware platform? did it use to work?

  Anyway....
That was my inner sugestion, when reading down the thread, I have had hardware compatibility problems with different versions of flash. I try either to remember or ask when it worked and then use this list http://helpx.adobe.com/flash-player/kb/archived-flash-player-versions.html

Sorry for take so long...

$firefox -debugplugin
ALSA lib pcm_oss.c:397:(_snd_pcm_oss_open) Cannot open device /dev/dsp
ALSA lib pcm_oss.c:397:(_snd_pcm_oss_open) Cannot open device /dev/dsp

The hardware is quite new, an HP Pavillion dm1, AMD E-350 with 4GB RAM

Specs of your soundcard would be of more interest...

See what happens if you start your browser as:

"aoss browsername"

BTW, "-debugplugin" is a switch which is probably particular to opera
