booting from multicore 4.0.1
« on: October 11, 2011, 08:24:35 AM »
Hello,
I cannot boot from the multicore 4.0.1 iso CD on my desktop PC although on my laptop it works fine, and the previous versions from 2.x onwards also worked fine on my desktop. I burned the iso on CD with CDburnerXP (windows XP), as I always did.
Any suggestions?
P.S. I have a sata harddisk (sda1 etc).
P.S.2 Since this is my first question on this forum: congratulations with the excellent distributions from a windows newbie.

Hi Iko113
In order for someone to help you , you need to provide more information than "It won't boot".
What do you see on the monitor? We can't see it from here. You need to provide details of
what's happening.

Simply Windows: if the CD is not recognised as bootable, the boot process switches to the system on the hard drive, which is Windows XP.

Got the same issue in a old IBM eServer saying : "boot from cd : faillure ..." then process to boot from HDD.
My laptop won't boot from the multicore cd too.

I had to instal from a tinycore cd.

It is like the cd is not recognize as a bootable device. It does not boot multicore at all (no linux message).

burned with Nero Burning rom from .iso
speed : x16 (minimum)

EDIT : i forgot, multicore 4.0.2 on my case
