Tapatalk is a free mod for SMF 2.0 (and many other forum systems). When installed, forums can be used with the Tapatalk Forum App client available on iPhone/iPad, Android and BlackBerry in their online shop. Client costs $2.99 which really worth. You will never user a browser after installing it on your mobile device.

I tested on my Forum. Installation took cca. 15 minutes including activation. No any compatibility issues, works fine TinyPortal too. I really like it. Checking/Reading posts is really a fun now!

Using it on my own SMF 2.0 I really like it as well as my users.  A great application. Now checking Tiny Core Linux on mobile phone with a browser is a pain :(

Also, there is a good support behind. Yesterday I got response in 10 minutes regarding a bug report.

I think the opportunity to browse forum by phone is also tasty (but I do not have appropriate tools).
However, this would force people interested to paying this mod, is at least open source?

Mod itself is free for forum owners. Mobile phone client is a commercial product. However you can use it not only with TC forum but many others. Nobody is forced, sorry. You can continue with a browser. Is $2.99 too much for something makes your life easier? Don't think so.
