As I understand it, lugaru is ' a phonetic spelling of the French word for werewolf, "loup-garou" '.

This above definition is quoted from the web site of Lugaru Software, Ltd., producers of the Epsilon Programmer's Editor, which I would highly recommend - expensive, but worth every penny (IMHO).
