Title: 'Media sharing'
Post by: mb on December 19, 2011, 04:32:06 PM
Is it possible to do what windows 7 calls 'media streaming' from tinycore?? I would like to be able to serve music files up to my Sony TV.

(I thought it might have been SMB2 but i enabled that and the tinycore system is still not found by the TV, so i guess not exactly.)

Hi mb
You have to at least make an effort. Use the forums search function above. Click the Search button
just to the right of the Help button and look for  streaming music  or  streaming audio.

Sorry.. i didn't mean streaming!
'media sharing'. I'm not quite sure of what the proper, technical term is which doesn't help. Like networking but not just the regular samba. Now, I think possibly it is to do with DNLA. (which seems to be handled by rygel.tcz.. so i'll be looking into that)

(e: another oversized tcz? .. why is gtk2 and xorg needed to do this  ???)

Yes, you can use rygel for media sharing/streaming - at the moment it will only stream music and video, there's a bug fix pending to support streaming images.

You could also use rhythmbox + coherence, but that would require even more bloat

Hi mb
Although it's not in the repository, this may (or may not) be of interest.

If you are feeling adventurous, you could try compiling from source.
