Hello,
My XP computer hardrive just crashed and I am currently using TinyCore as my OS. My OS version is 2.6 and I want to upgrade to 3.6. The only recommended way to do this is a fresh install. I cannot find a ISO burning tool for TinyCore. Are there any suggestions? Thanks.

You don't have to burn a cd to upgrade TC; it's enough to download the fresh files and add them to your bootloader. Setting up separate persistence would be necessary if you want to keep your current install too, otherwise you can just delete the tce dir.
OTOH if you want to burn a cd:
tce-load -wi cdrtools
sudo cdrecord -v speed=8 tinycore-current.iso

Thank you for that. I ended up just getting my hands on a comp and re-burnt tiny core. The suggestion on the Wiki said a fresh install which I did. I have another question though I'm trying to install this on my USB drive and I cannot find the directory for my tinycore iso or gz. Thanks again.

The iso will be wherever you downloaded it, or copied it to.
The gz will probably be in /mnt/sda1/boot. It may be a partition other than sda1.
-
Thanks you very much again. Is there any way to save all the apps I have downloaded so far before restarting it?
-
Create a tce/optional directory on some mountable device and copy them there.
They will be available on next boot.
-
Saying the same thing in a different way
Create a directory in /mnt/sda1 and save them there.
They eventually need to be in /mnt/sda1/tce/optional, so you could create tce and optional directories now, and save them there.
If not sda1, use the correct partition.

I'd like to sound a note of caution on this piece of advice: I agree with it in principle IF one would perform an upgrade from TC 3.x to TC 3.y, BUT this user wants to upgrade from TC 2.x. Therefore all kernel modules will be wrong, and many applications and libraries have been updated since the days of TC 2.x. So the result could well be a rather "broken" system. Therefore it might be better to re-download all the extensions from the TC 3.x repository again.

I did download 3.xx and burnt it on a cd and used that for a fresh install. I ended up just redownloading everything considering it was only 20mb of files. I will probably try to instal gnome soon though and may need some help with that (since my first time it didn't work at all (but that was a year ago)). Thanks for all the help guys you are the reason tiny core is still running strong. The 3.xx is much better than 2.xx in my opinion.

I have another question how would I enable scroll. I checked with the Xvesa settings and it still doesn't work. I have a two button mouse with a scroller in the middle. Thanks once again.
-
How would I change the color of the GUI so that it would no longer be that light blue?
-
Use the wallpaper button in cpanel.
-
I know how to change the wallpaper I have done that already. I'm talking about the panel that you can minimize, extend horizontal/vertical, and close a program.

Hi SimpleMan
If you are referring to the title bar it's in .profile in your home directory.

This subject is totally off-topic from your own thread... It would be preferable to either append to an existing suitable thread or to create a new one.
have you tried various selections of
xsetup

it is not clear at all what you are refering to.

I did try xsetup and it still doesn't work. Update: I restarted the computer and it now works, thanks.
Sorry for the off-topicness I just didn't want to have 3000 different threads and crowd up the whole forum with my amuetuer questions.
Thanks for that other link that was quite helpful I will try to mess with that later thanks.

Restarting X should be sufficient to implement changes.
