I have just loaded Geany from the repository using the Apps Loader tool.
All appears to load ok, but when I go to start it I get an error message box that says
"Geany tried to access the Unix Domain socket of another instance running as another user.
This is a fatal error and Geany will now quit."
Does anyone know what this means and how I fix it?
Peter.

Hi Tuftec
In your home directory go to .config/geany and delete the geany_socket file and try again.

I found the file and deleted it.
That seems to have solved the problem.
How has this happened?
I tried to delete and reinstal geany earlier but it did not solve the problem.
Thanks

Hi Tuftec
I've had that happen a couple of times too when my laptop locked up and I could not close geany
prior to rebooting. You could also make it happen if you perform a backup while geany is running,
shut down geany, and then reboot without running a backup.

Adding the offending file to .xfiletool.lst sounds like an idea then...
(I'v never had that happen under TC, though I think to remember something similar with an older version of geany under another distro long ago.)

Rich,
Thanks lots. Wondered what to do, would not reload, now it is tweaked out..
Remarkable distro, this TinyCore.
