Title: syslog as a syslog collector?
Post by: joeblow on April 30, 2011, 02:11:57 AM
Hi all.  newb here.

I'm using tinycore and microcore in several settings, but mostly in GNS3 cisco network simulators.  Is there a way to configure the tinycore syslog as a syslog collector?  That way I could set up a kvm to collect and display debugs from the various other devices in the sim.

thanks!

No, I don't think busybox syslogd can listen to others. You can of course deploy another syslogd implementation that does on the TC box.

Thanks for the reply.  I sort of suspected not, but thought I'd ask.

I didn't see any other syslogd apps in the extensions repository.  Is this the case?  or am I just not seeing it?

I've no problem with packaging up an rsyslog implementation but I was unable to locate newbie style guidelines on how to do a tce package.  Do these exist, and if so where?

Thanks!
