The newest version now provides for mp3:
- Constant bit rate encoding is user selectable (not just 128 kbps)
- Variable bit rate encoding
- Write support for ID3 and VBR tags

12 days have elapsed since the request was raised and the maintainer has not responded.
Would any of the regular packagers be willing to submit the update ?
-
I'm sure christmas time was busy for everyone, so let's not judge the non response negativly.
I don't call mysel a regular packager but I will gladly make an update.

It was not my intention to be in any way disparaging. If/as/when the original packager reads this topic I hope it not judged as such.
@Jackob
Once again you have been most helpful - thank you.

It has been uploaded to the repository.

Thanks.

The recently submitted update has been compiled without MP3 support. Would it be possible to resubmit it including MP3 support? This was the way in which previous version worked.
-
Until the omitted mp3 support is included in the present version, is it possible to re-add the previous version which does include mp3 support back into the TC3 repo?
-
Perhaps as a far from ideal and temporary but OTOH instant hack - if it works which is not guaranteed without trying - you could attempt to use the sox extension from 2.x repo which includes mp3 support.
'ldd' should show if all dependencies on libs are met or not.
YMMV
