Title: How can a liveCD .iso image be edited?
Post by: Ulysses_ on December 15, 2010, 04:52:01 PM
Is it possible to directly edit a liveCD .iso image without messing with complex remaster procedures of the o/s it came from?  This may be the only way with distros that discourage remastering, like LPS (http://www.linuxjournal.com/content/linux-distribution-lightweight-portable-security)

Have you tried using isomaster?

Just now I did after your suggestion. It can edit certain .pdf and .html files but not the initrd, where the o/s resides.  The aim here is to change files in the home directory but these are in the initrd.

For changing the cpio archive you can not avoid the procedure of remastering to change it.
What you could do would be "dynamic remastering" which is just adding a cpio archive with the changes, instead of remastering the default.
