Hello
can you help me get reminna working?
i installed Reminna and the plugins pack.
Reminna runs and offers the NX protocol.
I dial into my distant Linux box....it connects, accepts all the passwords then shows
me the sessions window.....there is no button to offer a NEW session. So If i just click the "start"
button Reminna tries to start but returns an error that it can't find the "nxproxy directory"?
The debug windows shows that it is the distant Linux box that QUITS the connection....because
it can't find the "nxproxy" directory on the local client?
The distant Linux box isrunning neatNX server.
It looks like something is wrong with the Plug ins pack for Reminna.....maybe?
Vince.

This site http://sourceforge.net/apps/mediawiki/remmina/index.php?title=Main_Page#NX (http://sourceforge.net/apps/mediawiki/remmina/index.php?title=Main_Page#NX) states that you need
1) nxcomp
2) nxproxy
to run NX sessions with remmina. Since they are open source I'm going to submit them and make them a dep of remmina. Then you can test again ;-)

Hello
That would be great.
Getting this NX systemm working from Remmina to a distant Linux box containing "neatNX" server.
All of this works perfectly in the windows arena....so (Using NXclient on the local machine)
hope to try it again in Tiny Core
thanks
Vince.

Hello gutmenshc
Remmina is now working correctly as a remote desktop tool under the NX proxy.
It is working correctly using the NX proxy. The distant machine contains "neatNX" server.
It takes a while to connect. ......About 2 minutes.............. but it works perfectly giving an Ubuntu Lucid Linux GNOME desktop.
Thanks very much for providing the extra required plug ins. "nxcomp" and "nxproxy"
Vince.

thanks for testing, vince! keep an eye on the repo updates of remmina, it's quite active in the last weeks (version 0.9.2 is out now and I'm going to submit it later today). so there might be improvements for your connection as well :)
-
BTW: Thanks, gutmensch, for the remmina extension. It runs fine for me with nx server (NoMachine).

Hello
Yes, happy new year 2011
will keep my eye on any new reminna versions...
i know this is not the place to ask, but
do you think that WINDOWS CE 6.0 will connect to a distant Linux box.
I was told that win CE 6.0 comes ready packed with REMOTRE DESKTOP.
Apparently you only need to install "rdesktop" on the distant linux box
and it will understand a remote connection from windows CE 6.0
i just wondered if you may know anything about it
thanks
Vince.

There is an Xrdp server that can accept Windows RDP connections, including from rdesktop. Do you mean that?
-
Hello
Well that sounds like the thing yes.
Windows CE 6.0 comes with the standard remote desktop tool (rdp)
you would find in windows XP...(same thing)
So the the Xrdp tool installed onto a distant Linux box would be able to accept
a visit from a windows machine(RDP) and open up a Linux desktop on that
local windows CE 6.0 machine.
that is what i mean .....yes.
This can apparently be done from android and i-pad slates also. They both
offer a free remote tool to do it. Making those slates very handy.
The reason i ask is because cloud computers are real cheap and handy
now. They give a lot more power to a small laptop or slate or even i-phone
or android phone
