Title: Boot kernel error: ata_piix 0000:00:1f.2: no available native port
Post by: lotharz0r on March 14, 2009, 06:50:30 AM
Hi.
I have a problem while booting tinycore.
The boot process stops for several seconds and show this error:
ata_piix 0000:00:1f.2: no available native port
Then it resumes and the desktop is loaded in about 3 seconds.
Is there a way I can get rid of this error message and halt while booting?
Maybe a kernel parameter or something?
I've tried googling, but I haven't found anyting that helps.

I've got the same problem.

Just before it I get this as well:

PCI: Not using MMCONFIG

Then it pause for about 8 seconds, then the same ata_piix message as you.

Anyone know what this is related to?

I got rid of the MMCONFIG message by adding "pci=nommconf" to the kernel options, but the time spent seems to be related more to the ata_piix message.
