Title: [solved] How play DVD with Parole?
Post by: uggla on September 27, 2010, 12:07:05 PM
How can I play my dvds with Parole? They don't show up under Media>DVD (mounted or not). I've loaded gst-plugins-base, good, bad, ugly, ffmpeg.

regards

You need atleast gst-plugins-bad for DVD with menu support

To play DVD with parole (or totem)
Go to Media --> Open location
Then enter "dvd://" (without quotes)

For more information see main project site

Thanks for your reply. I tried the dvd:// thing and it works for some dvds but for some I get a message saying "Could not read from resource". Do I need libdvdcss or something?

if dvd is encrypted yes you need libdvdcss

also your dvd reader device may be unable to read the dvd

Installing libdvdcss solved it.

Thanks!
