Title: Using my iPod with Rythmbox
Post by: EvetheBeef on September 27, 2010, 09:55:36 AM
Hi,

I'm using TinyCore 3.0 and I want to connect my iPod with Rhythmbox.
I can mount it but as you might know with iPods you need some kind of program to use it.
So when I click "Scan Removable Media" in Rhythbox, it doesnt show up.
Any Ideas?
bye eva  :)

I've heard gtkpod has been succesfully used (Juanito?), so you could see if it works better.

I'm not at a tc machine at the moment, but I seem to recall there's an iPod plugin to activate under the edit/plugins menu-did you try this?

Note also you'll need to load the optional libgpod extension

I had an iPod working with gtkpod many moons ago, but it depends on how recent an iPod you have

I only have an iPhone to test with (which is known not to work with libgpod), but it looks like you'd need to load libgpod, libusb, gst-plugins-{bad, ugly} and (maybe) libmtp to use an iPod with rhythmbox.

..this gets me a bunch of rhythmbox error messages about not being able to communicate with a usb device at least...

Note that there's an "iTunes-like" browser plugin included with rhythmbox-2.7, but I didn't try this.
