Using tc3.0 alpha 4
CP->Apps Audit->Check for updates indicated that I needed to update gtk2.tcz
So I did the update, which indicated successful completion.
However, after upgrading to the latest gtk2.tcz in the 3.0 repository and rebooting, several apps (Chromium-weekly, emelfm2, firefox, geany) fail with error:
libgtk-x11-2.0.so.0: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory
Checking the repository information, usr/local/lib/libgtk-x11-2.0.so.0, is supposed to be there .
Also the date for gtk-2.tcz is 2010/02/21, No idea why I got the update notification.
Checking the directory /usr/local/lib/ reveals the file is indeed not there.
Switching back to the previously loaded gtk-2.tcz ( from a backup) and things work again.
Any advice appreciated.
Thanks and best regards,

I am uploading a gtk2 update to both repos as we speak. Please report back if you see the same issue after updating to the new gtk2 once it is announced.
-
No joy, Jason. I checked the repository before downloading. It indicated a new version is there.
Same problem, identical.
I checked my /optional directory. The new gtk2.tcz file is just under 2MB. The earlier working one is >3MB. Perhaps some files got left out.

Here is the output of "ls -l gtk2.tcz" on the ibiblio server for both 2.x and 3.x:
-rw-r--r-- 1 tcrob users 3182592 May 27 20:15 gtk2.tcz
Right at 3mb for both. And the md5 checks out ok too.
Are you using ibiblio.org or a mirror?
-
Hi Jason,
I always use ibiblio.org. Have never used a mirror. I will try again. I did check the file that wound up in my /optional folder and it was about 1.9M. Now deleted. I will try again and report. Perhaps cockpit error of some sort.
I will try again and let you know.

Hi Jason,
I have tried again with the same result. This is completely repeatable. The file /optional/gtk2.tcz that I wind up with appears corrupted.
Doing a ls -l gtk2.tcz yields -rw--w---- 1 tc staff 1990656 May 26 20:36 gtk2.tcz
The date is wrong. I tried to mount gtk2.tcz to look at it but get an error message.
Any ideas? I will try the whole process on 2.11 (I am not really using 2.11 anymore but still have it around) and experiment further on 3.0 a4.
I recall that other files did update properly earlier on a4 . So far this appears only with gtk2.tcz as far as I know.
This will have to wait until tomorrow, however.
Thanks for the help.
Best regards,

I just did the upgrade from cp as described above. The contents of the /upgrade directory are:
-rw------- 1 tc staff 1982464 May 26 20:36 gtk2.tcz
-rw-r--r-- 1 tc staff 59 May 27 22:10 gtk2.tcz.dep
-rw-r--r-- 1 tc staff 43 May 27 22:09 gtk2.tcz.md5.txt
Somehow the gtk2.tcz file is not getting to me correctly. I will try tomorrow on tc2.11

I updated one of my machines that had the gtk2-2.18.7 installed, and all is well.
Do this:
cd /home/tc
tce-fetch.sh gtk2.tcz
and see if the resulting download has the same size issue.

Hi
I just downloaded gtk2.tcz using
tce-load -w gtk2.tcz
It downloaded fine, and gave me a 3 MB file.
I was using microcroe3 a4
-
Good morning, Jason, batnas:
I did as you suggested. Downloaded using
cd /home/tc
tce-fetch.sh gtk2.tcz
The resulting gtk2.tcz was >3MB. I manually inserted it into /optional (deleteing md5 and dep files) and re-booted. The re-boot worked and I am using a4 now.
Still what is happening with update?
A question. Using CP->Apps Audit->Check for updates etc as I did, I really do not know which repository was accessed. I assumed ibibilio.org but do not know for sure.
Thanks for the help. At least I am running, but do not trust updates from CP. Anything else I can do?

Perhaps a problem with zsync?
