The new version's command-line tool cdrecord will include BluRay, DVD double layer and DVD-RAM support, while the readcd command will now support media quality scanning with Plextor and Optiarc drives. Other enhancements include support for reading and writing hidden tracks on audio CDs, enhanced SCSI support and improvements to Mkisofs to handle UTF8 locales and files up to 8TB.

I'll update when it is released, though I don't have Blue Ray, double DVD and all to fully test with.

Given that, if someone who is more equipped to fully test cdrtools wants to update the extension please feel free.  If not, I will build it and depend on testing and feedback if there are issues with the new functionality.

I don't have a blu-ray burner either. I just think this is fine news that's a bit underrepresented due to history; the guy knows his stuff.

Yeah, I agree on the low hype to quality ratio, which is unusual in the *nix world, or the software world for that matter.
