Title: Downloading & Booting
Post by: Tuomaz on May 13, 2010, 09:04:04 AM
Hi there! I'm new with Tiny Core Linux and Linux on the whole.
So, how I should download these files? Just download them all one by one? And then just put them in to my memory stick?
And I mean these files: http://distro.ibiblio.org/pub/linux/distributions/tinycorelinux/2.x/release/

And when I boot from my memory stick it should start? Is that all?

Not really.
The files you are referring to are iso-files. When you download them you need to extract some files from the iso-file.

You should take a look at the wiki, the documentation and the faq - they will tell you everything you need to know

You can download the iso (tinycore-current.iso or tinycore_2.11.iso) and burn it to CD on any box that has the right hardware/software (Windows usually does), and boot Tiny Core from the CD on whatever box you want. This will let you try it out and see what you think. Installing to USB (or hard drive) is a little more involved (I've never done it because the old box I use doesn't boot from USB and has a dead hard drive!).
