Title: mydata.tgz permissions

Hi all.

I have a problem with mydata.tgz not preserving permissions.
I had etc/sudoers in .filetool and back'ed it up about a month ago. (without any reboot in this itime).
I made a small change and had to reboot it, and when it booted again it had changed the permission on /etc/sudoers.
Sudoers do not work with wrong permissions, causing me not to be able to change to root or simply run sudo.

I have managed to fix the problem, and my server is up and running again, but was it an idea to add -p to the tar-command in filetool.sh

-p should be the default for root, and restore always takes place as root. Can you reproduce with 2.11rc2 (with the updated busybox)?

the machine is still running 2.9, and it is a bit triky for me to upgrade it(if it more than just a new microcore.gz)
I am considering upgrading it, but it is a bit tricky as it is a thinstation, only able to PXE-boot

You could just drop the 2.11rc2 microcore.gz on the PXE server, and boot it with "base", to only check the backup.

Nah. I think i will wait till 2.12 gets released, and then install again. Can't I just copy all my files to the newly installed MC??
files like: menu.lst,  /tce and  /opt??

Yes, I was only thinking how you could test without upgrading.
