Hi
I am remastering TC 2.9 and can do so with chimera2.
I have a web page in that remaster which opens with a bookmark
The fonts are a wee ugly so I am attempting to improve it.
Before I modified the resources file....chimera would run.....with the not so .y fonts.
After modifying resourses file chimera still appears in applications menu but crashes
If I run it in a terminal the exit error message is
could not get font list
2) home/tc/.chimera holds resources file.....which is the only file I modded before the next remaster attempt
The hints Document shows this line....put in a code box to highlight it
html.propFontPattern: -adobe-helvetica-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-iso8859-1
3) I found Liberation fonts only 1.4 megs so installed them and they have this structure
http://distro.ibiblio.org/pub/linux/distributions/tinycorelinux/2.x/tcz/liberation-fonts-ttf.tcz.list
So what I attempted to do was this
html.propFontPattern: -Liberation-LiberationSans-Regular-Liberation-LiberationSans-Bold-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-iso8859-1
where I assumed adobe-helvetica could be translated to
Liberation-LiberationSans-Regular-........and I also want bold so Liberation-LiberationSans-Bold and original tip had 10x * so I dropped one
It not working and chimera2 docs are not bountiful.....lol
4) So I remastered with just the one entry to regular with same error message
Question Can any kind soul spot what I am doing wrong?
any help would be appreciated.
regards
gordy

Chimera can only use bitmap fonts, Liberation ones are TTF (scalable).

curaga
thankyou for the quick reply.
I am even more depressed...lol
I relooked at the font ...iso8859-1
(in root shell or su)
find / -name *iso8859-1*
--> returns no font folders at all
find / -name *ISO8859-1*
--> returns /usr/lib/X11/fonts either sub-folder misc or 75dpi
2) I created the web page in abiword....I can not see any such font as iso8859-1 to convert to
3) I tried to copy a pcf font as per search to /home/tc/fonts
html.propFontPattern: 7x130-ISO8859-1 * etc
but restarting chimera from the command line still no good.
I tried to sym link the same font to /home/tc/fonts same error to start chimera
4) I am now trying to get a known fixed bitmap font (AFAIK pcf are bitmap) so I can force the display to a certain size.
5) Once I succeed I might then import more pcf fonts but I am hitting a recurring error.
Do you remember how to force it to use a certain bitmap?
The bottom line is....if I lack the skills to work out how to get chimera fonts to look nice I can go for arora or leave it ugly so no worries if you do not know.
Thanks for reading in any case

The font path can be modified with xset, or you can put the pcf fonts to /usr/lib/X11/fonts/75dpi.
It's been a while since I last had to use bitmap fonts, so my memories of it aren't exactly fresh.

hi
I had a sleep on it....being an aussie.....I have marked this solved as I have elected to go to arora and use true types and accept I will have a bigger upload and any interested users a bigger download.......my distro with chimera2 was already 25 megs and I was trying to keep it below slitaz's 30 megs.
But whats 5 megs between friends?
