Title: Can someone please outline the exact steps to force a password in MicroCore
Post by: baz on February 26, 2010, 04:55:48 PM
This does not work:

1. Install fresh MicroCore
2. Add bootcodes "noautologin" and "secure"
3. Reboot
4. Provide TC and ROOT passwords
5. chpasswd the TC and ROOT passwords
6. add etc/shadow to .filetool.lst
7. Reboot

Password is still not required.

You need to make a backup (http://wiki.tinycorelinux.com/tiki-index.php?page=Backup) before rebooting. I'll add that to the security wiki.

Is it required to chpasswd too? I don't *think* that was in the wiki either...

Selecting backup option at shutdown enough, or does the user need to make a backup "manually"?

Many thanks for that!
