Title: How to connect and print on a corporate, stand-alone printer?
Post by: baz on February 23, 2010, 04:05:51 PM
Hi,

I would like to connect to one of our big stand-alone corporate printers. In Ubuntu I simply opened up the printer setup interface, and magically it showed up ready to be used.

Do I need to install CUPS for this, or just SMB or something else? I read some other threads on printing but they focused on being connected to Windows machines, or providing the printing services, etc.

Thanks.

This probably depends on your corporate network and its security setup and so on - you may be able to print using cups and the ip address of the printer in question?
