dreamchess is working on my computer, i also did a test from base

though without graphics drivers fps is a bit low with drivers installed everything is perfect

as noted in info you need xorg, oss or alsa setup properly, and accelerated graphics for smooth play (ati&nvidia drivers for example)

if you are receiving "unable to open audio, failed to load ... " error it means you don't have an audio device setup properly to fix it you need to load OSS or ALSA and setup if required.

developers of dreamchess should fix this rubbish problem why would i need a sound device to play a 3d game ?

I thought my problem was a 3d (mesa) video problem.  I get the same thing when I do glxgears.  I have that intel/centrino chipset.
