Title: Roadmap / Timeline for TCL 3.x
Post by: Miller on January 01, 2010, 06:11:45 AM
Hello All,
What is the roadmap / timeline for TCL to introduce version 3.x?
Also, what major changes can we expect and which kernel will be used with 3.x?
Best, Miller.

Hi Miller !
Why so much hurry ?
Most of the developers here are contributing to TCL sparing thier extra time left after thier daily profesional obligations I think so !
So is thier any specific reason for the request ? I mean are you also trying to contribute to the TCL development ?
:)

Curiosity is fine :D

Tentatively, non-bindingly, were looking at Q2 2010, 2.6.33. 3.0 will have many changes, and most of them will be known when it's done ;)

One feature I'm aiming for will be better functioning in low-ram situations. Less hangups with a heavy browser for example.

Hi Curaga
Thanks for the advice.
Yes, I'm just curious to see where the project is heading.
Best, Miller.

Low hang-up point seems to be fine, but in todays lot-of-RAM era why low-ram situation ?
Just a thought !

Many TC users have 128mb or even less.

I've got 512M (old Compaq Deskpro EN), and I've run out of RAM playing large YouTube videos through Opera/Flash. I've basically stopped using Flash and now download videos. For some however there's no link so not having Flash makes them inaccessible.
