Title: cannot write to my ssd
Post by: slcpunx on December 06, 2009, 01:14:58 PM
I'm to to install Tiny Core and when I go to partition the drive it says "open read-only". Can anyone tell me how to write to my drive.

ASUS Eeepc 900a 32gb super-talent ssd

Thank you

Make sure you have (root) privileges to do so

Seems you got difficultes to create another partition on your drive for installing TC. Don't know how to solve your partition problem - but there is another possibility, if you shouldn't succeed your way.

An alternative to a separate partition would be to install TC as guest system within Virtual Box.

Virtual Box is offered for Fedora 12- Link. (http://www.virtualbox.org/wiki/Linux_Downloads)

After installing Virtual Box just follow the installation guide of TC (with TC iso mounted as CD in Virtual Box Settings) - Link (http://www.tinycorelinux.com/install.html).

Instead of rebooting shutdown as last step, switch off the mounted iso in Virtual Box Settings, start Virtual Box again and you should be done.

You don't need to create a new partition to install Tiny Core. It can live happily in a couple of folders on your current partition and shouldn't interfere at all with your current Fedora setup. See the following posts:
