check /usr/local/tce.installed to see what's loaded. Make sure all your extensions are updated.
-
loaded all extensions after the 2.6 setup so they should be up to date

When upgrading with a backup or persistent store, you should follow the release announcements regarding "files that changed and are likely in your backup"
I would guess you need to update your .profile and .xsession from /etc/skel.
That is typical when there is no window manger.
-
Thank You...pray tell how to update .profile and .xsession
-
Use shell (terminal) and at prompt
cp /etc/skel/.profile /home/tc/.profile
cp /etc/skel/.xsession /home/tc/.xsession
-
did that.....still no window manager, this was a clean install on a formatted partition before any extensions were added

Opera 10 has to be closed to do anything else can't minimize or resize it.

Ctrl-Alt-M will resize the window in FLWM.

So, it sounds like your WM is working.
When you say you can't minimize nor resize Opera, is that because the window buttons and window borders lie beyond the screen edges? If so, have you tried holding down Alt while holding the left mouse button and moving the window around with the pointer?

Unfortunately, this doesn't work with flwm.
You can try these key combinations:
Ctrl Alt arrows moves the window
Ctrl Alt = grows the window (unshifted + key)
Ctrl Alt - shrinks the window
Ctrl Alt PgUp grows the window veritcally
Ctrl Alt PgDn shrinks the window vertically
Ctrl Alt , grows the window hortizontally (unshifted < key)
Ctrl Alt . grows the window hortizontally (unshifted > key)
Ctrl Alt t taller (sames as PgUp)
Ctrl Alt s shorter (same as PgDn)
Ctrl Alt m maximize widow
Ctrl Alt v maximize vertical
Ctrl Alt h maximize hortizontal
-
Thanks for the key combinations.
I wasn't sure if the OP is using flwm.

My last installation with 2.5 booted up with the window manager across the top of the screen, another install doesn't have it I did the .xsession and .profile thing still nothing.......

could the resolution settings have anything to do with it? the xvesa settings before Xorg was installed.
