Title: alsa and 2.4.1
Post by: bmarkus on October 13, 2009, 04:42:44 AM
I was busy with fixing bugs in the last days and did not play with sound till now. To my supprize alsaconf do not find any usable hardware. Running the /usr/local/etc/init.d/alsasound script it displays the intel hda chip but no sound device still and no sound. I can't get alsa up and running. It was working fine with previous 2.x versions.

OSS works fine.

Alsa has been fixed.  Redownload and try it again.

Tested on a bare 2.4.1 only ALSA and MOC installed. MOC recognize the sound system and plays back now.

Master channel is muted and set to 0% so I have to manually enable sound. It would be better to enable it with level 75% automatically at startup.

alsaconf still do not find any sound device.

Situation is much better now as there is a sound, thanks.

I use hotkeyed scripts  ( click mutes off and on to start*, vol up/down, mike on/off, etc ) in addition to alsamix setup in /opt/bootlocal.sh

( *alsamixer bug).

bmarkus - redownload and try again.  I was uploading some fixed extensions at the time I uploaded alsa and the previous alsa.tczl that had another issue fixed overwrote the one with the corrected alsaconf.

It should be fine now.

alsamixer settings in /etc/asound.state persist and  sound works without /usr/local/etc/init.d/alsasound start.  I still have the alsamixer bug, however, so there's no sound without clicking the mutes off and on.
