Title: Is the web page install instruction current with the .iso?
Post by: arvevans on September 23, 2009, 06:16:33 PM

I'm new to Tiny Core, but am an old-timer with UNIX, and latest Ubuntu & Debian, so
please bear with me during the learning curve of Tiny Core.

I tried to do a HD install of Tiny Core, based on instructions posted on the web page.

And from there, obviously nothing works.  Possibly the web page instruction is incomplete,
or the .iso is incomplete, or something may be broken.  Am I doing something wrong, or is
there an error in instructions?

Thanks,

Arv

Step 1 Title says:

1. Obtaining cfdisk and GRUB via appbrowser

At the very bottom of step, last statement says:

Now repeat this process, by selecting and installing grub-0.97-splash.tce.

Doing such will provided the much needed grub.

No Internet connection, so no app browser.

I used fdisk in place of cfdisk (I'm an old timer and comfortable with raw fdisk).
OK.  I can download needed software (i386-pc) to a pen drive or CD-ROM and do the transfer that way.

Guess I missed the 2nd grub line.

Probably tomorrow I will try this again and see how far I get this time.

For a .iso suitable to use with a CD-ROM drive, it might be possible to include everything that is needed for install in the download, including WiFi tools.

Thanks

Obviously had internet access to fetch the iso. With a pendrive easy to grab some extensions via webpage download to get a basic system up.
