In "files that need updating", .profile might be included since .xsession depends on it (or no desktop).

Actually the change regarding .profile interaction, via exports, with .xsession occured in v.2.2.
See "Files likely to have changed" in v2.2 announcement.

However, it does no harm in checking such.
