Support for https was fixed in tkhtml few years ago.

It's not terribly obvious which of the several source code repositories is the correct one?

I tried to compile this, but get a lot of errors.

Here is instruction how to compile hv web broser. I wasn't able to compile tkhtml or hv3. Maybe because tk8.6-dev.tcz and tk9.0-dev.tcz are too old.

You can compile tkhtml3 like this:

tce-load -i compiletc git python3.14-dev

git clone https://github.com/olebole/tkhtml3

cd tkhtml3

mkdir build
cd build

CC="gcc -flto -mtune=generic -Os -pipe -std=c99 -fcommon -Wno-implicit-function-declaration" CXX="g++ -flto -mtune=generic -Os -pipe -fno-exceptions -fno-rtti"  ../configure --prefix=/usr/local --disable-static --localstatedir=/var

find . -name Makefile -type f -exec sed -i 's/-O2//g' {} \;

make
sudo make install
